What you'll learn
Chapter 1 - Introducing Underground Storage Tanks - This first chapter discusses the purpose of a Class C Operator and the layout of a typical UST. Facilities are difficult to manage and maintain, and we learn the Class C Operator plays an important part in keeping the facility up and running.
Chapter 2 - Reviewing Class C Responsibilities - This chapter covers the many responsibilities of the Class C operator. Students will learn about the components used to monitor a UST, how to interpret its warnings, and how to respond to alarms. This chapter also teaches the student how to supervise a fuel delivery and monitor for problems during the delivery process. Lastly, students will also learn about hazards at the fueling point, including smoking, static electricity, and leaving a vehicle unattended while fueling.
Chapter 3 - Cleaning Up Spills and Releases - In this chapter, students learn about the difference between a spill and a release, and how both negatively impact the environment. This chapter also introduces students to the spill kit, its contents, and teaches them how to use spill kit components to contain spills threatening sensitive receptors like curb breaks and drains.
Chapter 4 - Responding to Emergencies - This chapter discusses common emergency situations and how to properly respond to them. This includes what to do if a vehicle leaves the facility with the nozzle still in the vehicle's fuel spout, how to use a fire extinguisher, and how to manage customer traffic in the event of a spill.

Author
Practical American Safety Solutions, better (and more easily) known as PASS Training & Compliance, or PASS, was founded in response to the passing of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, when the idea of UST Operator Training was first introduced. We worked closely with many state legislators and regulators to help finalize their laws to meet the federal requirements. We then quickly grew to expand relationships with nearly every US state and territory to become one of the country’s largest providers of UST Operator Training via our web-based learning management system, PASS Training.
As regulations grew and evolved, so did the demand on the time and attention of UST operators. We saw this as an opportunity to even better serve our customers, which lead to the development of our cloud-based compliance manage platform, PASS Tools for Companies, along with our partner-driven service provider network, PASS Tools for Service Providers.
As things continue to change we will always have a finger on the pulse of regulations and compliance in the UST and AST industries, to help ensure that our customers are equipped with everything necessary to easily and effectively do their jobs.
